Cacik (pronounced “djadjek”) is the twin of the Greek tzatziki or the Iranian mast o khiar. You can garnish your Cacik with dried mint or finely chopped dill. It is a true classic of Turkish cuisine, often present in Mezze, it also accompanies meat dishes or kebab.

Steps

1
Done

Preparation of the Cucumber

Wash and possibly peel the cucumber and grate it into a large bowl. Add salt and let it drain for about 30 minutes.

2
Done

Add garlic

Add your 300 grams of yogurt to a large bowl. Peel your two cloves of garlic and crush them with salt, mix well with the yogurt until the garlic is incorporated evenly.

3
Done

Add your grated cucumber and mix well. Add some dried or finely chopped herbs (mint, dill...) and sprinkle with olive oil.

4
Done

Taste your Cacik

And that's it! Your homemade Turkish Cacik is now ready to be enjoyed! Serve it fresh with a little bread or as a side dish with meat and kebab. Enjoy your meal!
