Khakshir is a very popular drink in Iran and Persian countries. It is a drink usually consumed in the summer because it is very refreshing and thirst-quenching.

However in Iran, it is drunk year round because it is an Iranian drink with a multitude of health benefits.

It is perfect to serve to your guests, it is a sweet drink with a touch of rose water that will refresh your guests and allow you to welcome them in the best conditions.

Khakshir’s Seeds

These are small brown / reddish seeds called “teef” in English.

Khakshir seeds come from the herb of Hagia Sophia (Descurainia Sophia). It is a species of herbaceous plant belonging to the Brassicaceae family that is often found in Eurasia.

Khakshir is a natural herbal detox drink that cleanses the liver. This Iranian drink improves skin texture and helps cure symptoms such as fever. Khakshir seeds are an excellent source of calcium, fiber, and protein.

Pour your Hagia Sophia seeds into a pitcher, and fill it with two glasses of water.

Dissolve the sugar in lukewarm water and add it to the pitcher. You can also add a tablespoon of rose water if you like!
Then stir the mixture and pour it into glasses with ice cubes. Before drinking it, make sure that the seeds have risen to the surface.
